When my friend asked if Reverie would host her baby shower, my answer was instinctive: of course. Naturally, I began envisioning the usual details. Soft florals. Beautiful tablescapes. A celebratory atmosphere marking a new chapter.
Then, somewhere in the conversation, a cat entered the chat.
Confused, I paused, only for her to clarify: this was not a baby shower in the traditional sense. She was welcoming home a new kitten and wanted to celebrate the occasion with a candle making workshop surrounded by her closest friends.

To some, the concept might sound wonderfully absurd. To us at Reverie, however, it felt strangely perfect. After all, if there is ever a moment worth marking, surely it is the arrival of something deeply loved.
What made the occasion feel even more fitting was something many pet owners are often unaware of: not all candles are created with pets in mind.
At Reverie, every fragrance is thoughtfully selected to be toxin free and suitable for homes shared with cats. Many mainstream candles contain ingredients that can become irritants for pets, particularly in enclosed spaces where fragrance lingers. It is one of the reasons we care so deeply about conscious candle making and ingredient transparency.
Because luxury should never come at the expense of wellbeing!
The afternoon unfolded exactly as you might imagine: intimate, joyful and beautifully unconventional. Eight ladies gathered around an elegant afternoon tea spread to celebrate the tiniest guest of honour. Between delicate sandwiches and endless conversation came scent exploration, candle pouring and moments of laughter that seemed to linger in the air long after the workshop ended.
For many guests, the experience also became unexpectedly educational. Several had pets at home and left with a new understanding of candle safety and the importance of being mindful about the products we burn in spaces shared with those we love, furry companions included.
Perhaps this is one of the things we love most about Reverie workshops. They become part celebration, part connection and part discovery. No two are ever quite the same.
And if you are wondering whether we would host another kitten baby shower? Without hesitation, yes.
