Behind the Scenes of the First Reverie Candle Making Workshop

Behind the Scenes of the First Reverie Candle Making Workshop

The first pancake never comes out right… or does it?

After months of meticulous planning, Reverie Candle hosted its very first candle making workshop at Kindred Hammersmith in London. The location felt fitting, as London is now home to Reverie Candle HQ 🥳

You always want your first event to be a success - start as you mean to go on, right? Well, thanks to classic London traffic, we arrived at the exact time the workshop was due to begin. Absolute nightmare, considering setup would take at least 30 minutes! Thankfully, the champagne reception I’d organised to elevate the experience worked wonders - attendees were happily sipping away and socialising, blissfully unaware of the frantic behind-the-scenes action. From setting up the perfect candle-making space to steaming my dress (because I had to give my best Nara Smith impression), it was a whirlwind!

As guests began to pour in, it finally hit me - I was really doing this. Hosting my first sold-out event, sharing my love of candle making with both friends and new faces. One of the loveliest moments? A woman who had the experience gifted to her by her husband - how sweet is that?

The workshop itself flowed beautifully, filled with laughter, concentration, and creativity. Each attendee crafted a luxurious soy wax candle, delicately decorated with pink dried rose petals. Seeing everyone so engaged and proud of their creations was the best feeling.

Lessons from the First Workshop

Of course, every experience comes with its lessons learned, and I’ve already made tweaks for future events:

✔️ Plan for London traffic: You don’t live in the countryside anymore! Arriving early is essential, and so is factoring in parking (because if there’s one thing about London, it’s that free parking does not exist).

✔️ Invest in a wax melter: Venue smoke alarms are very sensitive, and let’s just say I learned that the hard way.

A Huge Thank You!

A special shoutout to:

🤩 Rachel Jones at Kindred for making this dream a reality.

🤩 Lucille Gwati at Reverie Candle for facilitating the workshop.

🤩 My amazing friends for stepping in to help set up and pack down when they should have just been enjoying the experience!

The same way it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to build a business.
