Gingerbread, jazz and the pleasure of making something by hand. A first look at Christmas.
Christmas is my favourite time of year, which probably explains why the tree went up at Reverie on 1 November. Since then, local artist Sofija Uhanova has dressed our windows for the season, and Christmas jazz has become the soundtrack to our fragrance experiences. My favourite change, though, is the one you’ll notice at the candle making table.
Five fragrances for the season
Three new fragrances join our Christmas candle making collection this year, alongside two returning favourites.
-
Gingerbread warms spicy ginger with the sweetness of vanilla cake.
-
North Star pairs green fig leaves with smoky frankincense, moss and amber.
-
Cocoa Dreams layers rich cacao and sandalwood with creamy vanilla milk and caramel.
-
Mulled Muse brings to mind mulled wine on the stove, with orange, berries, cinnamon and a hint of bay.
-
Frosted Fantasy opens with bright citrus before settling into fir balsam and soft cedarwood.
I keep coming back to Cocoa Dreams and Mulled Muse. Both have the warmth I look for in a Christmas candle. Cocoa Dreams is the one I’d light for a quiet evening in, while Mulled Muse is what I’d reach for when friends are coming over.
At our Christmas Candle Making Workshops, you can finish your candle with a miniature Christmas tree, a gingerbread figure or an icy snowflake. I’d give Gingerbread its namesake figure and Frosted Fantasy the snowflake.
The pleasure of giving something handmade
There’s a particular pleasure in wrapping a candle you’ve made with someone in mind. You get to choose the fragrance you think they’ll reach for and the little detail they’ll spot when they lift the lid. It makes a lovely stocking filler, if you can bear to part with it.
If your candle ends up on your own mantelpiece, a Reverie gift card gives someone you love time at the fragrance table and the pleasure of making something entirely their own.

Find us at the Christmas fayre
We’ll also be at the Northampton High School Christmas Fayre. I spent years going to the fayre as a pupil, so returning with Reverie feels especially lovely. If you’re coming along, do stop by and say hello.
A Christmas gathering of your own
If you’re planning a festive get together with friends, a Christmas team celebration or an evening for clients, we’d love to host you for a private fragrance experience. Get in touch to tell us what you have in mind.
