Reverie at Netflix HQ

Reverie at Netflix HQ

Black History Month arrives each October with its familiar conversations. History. Representation. Inequality. The disproportionate challenges experienced by Black communities. Those conversations have their place but Blackness is not synonymous with struggle. There is culture, creativity, beauty, community, achievement and importantly, joy.

This Black History Month, Netflix invited Reverie to host a candle making experience for the company's employees. No lengthy presentations or sitting quietly while someone else did the talking. Instead, there were fragrances to discover, candles to pour, botanicals to arrange and plenty of time to simply be together.

There is something inherently satisfying about making something yourself. During a Reverie candle making workshop, guests are guided through creating their own luxury soy wax candle, from choosing their fragrance to pouring the wax and adding the finishing touches.

As fragrance is at the heart of the experience. Guests explore premium fragrance oils and consider not just what smells nice, but how they want their candle to make them feel. Something warm and comforting. Something fresh and uplifting. Something that reminds them of somewhere, or someone. Two people can choose from the same fragrances and leave with completely different creations.

For a couple of hours, there are no emails, spreadsheets or meetings to rush back to. Just making. And because it is hands on, conversation happens naturally. People compare fragrances and admire each other's candles. Team building without the awkward icebreakers.

Perhaps that is one of the simplest forms of workplace wellbeing: giving people permission to pause.

Reverie brings the candle making experience directly to your workplace or chosen venue, including all materials, equipment, guidance, set up and take down. Guests simply turn up and enjoy the experience. Interested? Drop us an email.
