I don’t know who needs to hear this, but post that content! These days we’re so fortunate that algorithms do the heavy lifting for us. Do hashtags even work anymore? The same way you’re able to enjoy content that’s of interest to you on your FYP - your target audience, when content creation is done correctly, is also able to enjoy your content as it’s of interest to them. Don’t get distracted by the numbers, if you’re stuck in under 1k jail, don’t worry. Could you confidently speak in front of a group of 1000 people? Exactly. Don’t despise small beginnings.
You’re probably wondering what on earth this has to do with candle making. Well, if I had stopped posting because of the small reach, in comparison to bigger brands, I would not have made myself discoverable by corporations who want to work with me.
In February, I had the absolute pleasure of curating a Galentine’s themed candle making workshop for Simply Business’ Northampton office, after being discovered on Instagram.
Engaging in creative tasks, like candle making, can reduce stress by up to 25%, as measured by cortisol levels and self-reported stress scales. Participants in arts and crafts activities reported a 23.9% increase in feelings of life being worthwhile, comparable to the benefits of being employed. Research indicates that hands-on activities, like candle making, activate the release of dopamine, a neurotransmitter associated with pleasure and satisfaction, enhancing emotional well-being by 37% among participants. Adding candle making workshops to your wellness programs can significantly enhance attendees’ mental well-being, leading to increased happiness, life satisfaction, and productivity
The creativity was truly in the room with us. This workshop was Galentine’s themed and attendees were able to decorate their fragrant candles with either a pink or purple dye, and adorn their candles with heart shaped pink and purple wax melts. It was absolutely amazing to see the creativity in the room, with attendees organising the pattern of their hearts in beautiful ways I had not seen before, not even on Pinterest!
